About the flag:

The red diagonal cross was inspired by the Battle flag of the Confederate States of America, to which Florida belonged. The Indian women scattering flowers represents the states first inhabitants, the Seminoles. The seal also represents the many characteristics of the state, the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, river and lakes. The state motto “ In God We Trust” is prominent on the flag.
